2. Position   Post Doctoral Scientist

Description You will concentrate on research work on the effects of climate change, and provide analytical support for the site network programme. Climate change work will focus initially on developing a database of European range shift projections, to ascertain the risk of climate forced extinctions, and on the interacting effects of climate change and shifts in land use patterns.  
 
3. Position   Postdoc

Description A 3 year postdoctoral position (RA1A, salary ё20,311) is available in the laboratory of Prof. Julian Blow for studying the biochemistry of nuclear reprogramming. This work is part of a BBSRC funded collaboration with Prof. Ian Wilmut and Dr Helen Sang at the Roslin Institute to develop strategies for improving nuclear transplantation. 4. Position   Researcher

Description Within the research group of Dr J Xiao, you will work on a project focusing on the development of novel ligands, catalysts and reaction media for promoting desired regioselective Heck arylation of olefins. You should have a PhD in chemistry and experience in catalysed homogeneous C-C coupling reactions, preferentially in Heck and related reactions. The post is funded by a major pharmaceutical company for one year and is expected to commence in January 2004.  
 
5. Position   Postdoctoral Vacancy

Description A synthetic organic chemist required to join a multi-disciplinary team studying enzymes of trypanothione metabolism as chemotherapeutic targets in Professor Alan Fairlamb's laboratory. Applicants should have several years of postdoctoral experience in synthetic organic chemistry and should have an interest in medicinal chemistry and/or structure-based inhibitor design. Salary range ё26,270 - ё29,621. .  
 
6. Position   Postdoctoral Vacancy

Description To investigate the functional roles of tryparedoxin and tryparedoxin peroxidase in trypanosomes and Leishmania. Candidates must have a PhD in biochemistry or molecular biology. Experience in biochemical techniques such as protein _expression / purification, enzymology, molecular biology and cell culture would be a strong advantage.  
 
7. Position   Postdoctoral researcher

Description Applications are invited for a 34-month postdoctoral position in the Department of Pharmacy to start in February 2004. Research funding is through the BBSRC and you will be working with Dr M Hanna-Brown. The research project will involve further development and evaluation of novel multi-dimensional electrophoresis instrumentation for complex biological sample clean-up, trace analyte pre-concentration, separation and detection. The ultimate aim of the project will be to interface the instrumentation with MS for identification of unknown trace analytes in biological matrices.  
 
8. Position   Postdoctoral research assistant

Description A postdoctoral research assistant is required to work in the Wolfson Centre for Age-Related Diseases to undertake research within a collaborative EU research programme. The project concerns the antioxidant properties and metabolism of flavonoids, and the mechanisms of their reactivity with reactive oxygen and reactive nitrogen species.  
 
9. Position   Research Fellow

Description You will have primary responsibility for designing and co-ordinating a Europe-wide network of ecological field research sites, and in particular will co-ordinate research into pollinator loss and its effects. Initial pollination work will focus on documenting continent-wide patterns of change in pollinator communities by repeating historic pollination observations, and on interactions between pollinator loss and other aspects of the research programme.

Description Research Fellow - Studying the Exocyst Complex using Transmission Electron Microscopy This fixed term (two years) post is available immediately, to join a well-funded and active research effort in the Faculty of Biological Sciences (rated 5 in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise).The post is funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, to study the exocyst complex by transmission electron microscopy and computer based image processing, and also assist in its purification.  
 
12. Position   Researcher

Description Emerging viruses that cause central nervous system infections are growing in importance globally. Our group, funded by the Wellcome Trust, with links to Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, is studying clinical neurovirological and immunological aspects of Japanese encephalitis virus and related viruses (dengue and West Nile). A Scientist is required for twelve months initially, with experience in molecular virology or immunology, to work in a biosafety level 3 containment facility, looking at the effects of viral infection on cytokine _expression. Visits to collaborating research units in Southeast Asia and Africa may be required.

14. Position   Researcher

Description The Department is one of the UK's leading centres for Physics research. We are seeking a Researcher to develop instrumentation with the aim of developing a small PET scanner based on the use of a germanium detector. The work will take place in collaboration with Daresbury Laboratory. Candidates are expected to have a PhD and instrumentation/radiation detector experience. The post is tenable for three years, commencing 1 January 2004.  
 
15. Position   Research Fellow

Description Research Fellow, 5 year post, for MRC Co-op 'Adhesion receptors in the vasculature: from mouse to human'. Expertise in intravital microscopy and PHD essential. Background in confocal microscopy desirable.
